GOLBAL WAR ON TERROR MONUMENT PROJECT
Our class officers wanted to reach out to the you with an update on our First Gift. As you may recall, we embarked on a campaign to raise money for a 9/11 memorial monument on the yard. While much has changed since graduation, the war on terror continues. Your class officers have worked with the Academy and the Foundation to broaden the scope of our initial concept. The monument now will be a memorial to the entire Global War on Terror, remembering all those who lost their lives not only on 9/11 but in all terror related tragedies prior to 9/11 and beyond.
We are currently working on a new design that we will share once approved by the Academy, but in the meantime, we need to continue to raise money for this memorial, which will be prominently displayed on the lower Yard.
To date, only 250 of us have raised $145,000 for this project but we absolutely need more of us to join in this effort. It is likely we will need $300,000 or more to complete the project. Please join your class leadership in supporting this great class project that will memorialize those that paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedoms.
This is an incredible opportunity for our class legacy, one that few classes will ever have. There are no new monuments planned for the Yard.
