Support Students Affected by Florence

Since Hurricane Florence, affected students and their families continue to rebuild in its aftermath - and we need your support to help us provide the financial resources they need.
Help us hit the $300,000 milestone by making a donation by Tuesday, November 27. Reaching this milestone will send a clear message to these students and families in their time of need: We are here for you.
The Hurricane Florence Student Emergency Fund Challenge aims to raise $1 million to support students faced with unexpected financial hardships wrought by the storm. Meeting the Challenge will provide a total of $2 million in relief, with the University's contribution of $1 million.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has identified 28 counties in southeastern North Carolina as disaster areas. We have more than 2,800 students - undergraduate and graduate - from those counties.
Every student now coping with Hurricane Florence's aftermath has a story to tell. Take Margaret, a Carolina Covenant Scholar from just outside Wilmington. While her family's home escaped the worst of the storm's wrath, it could not escape the flooding that followed. Her parents, now unable to work, are living in temporary accommodations with her younger sister. Margaret knows her parents can no longer help her financially and she has already submitted documentation to reevaluate her financial aid package.
To help students like Margaret, we ask that you encourage students you know need help to email florence@unc.edu. This address will be used to take requests for aid from the Florence Student Emergency Fund.
