SONUS is excited to announce a score contest, with all donated proceeds supporting our upcoming 2018-2019 season!

We are accepting all a-capella choral scores, appropriate for 26 voices, in any language and style.

The winner's piece will be featured on our upcoming season and tour, and SONUS will provide a live-performance recording for use by the composer for promotion (not for commercial distribution). The winning composer will also have the opportunity to be our special guest at our annual Spring concert (May 3 2019), with a chance to talk about the piece in front of our audience. (For Nashville-based composers only. SONUS cannot provide travel expenses.)

To enter, please donate $25 per score. Forward your donation receipt to and attach a PDF(s) of your score. If possible, please also provide an audio version of your score (a midi-rendition, for example). You may submit as many scores as you like!

The deadline for this contest is July 20th.

We reserve the right not to pick a winning score if our team does not find an appropriate piece for our ensemble.

The winning composer will agree to allow the choir to perform the work without a rental or usage fee. SONUS will print the sheet music at their own expense.

The winner will be announced by Aug 1st, 2018.

SONUS is a modern a cappella choir from Nashville TN, born from the desire to create beautiful music with excellence and passion, with an emphasis on modern and sacred music. They are dedicated to a collective leadership, working together to create a transcendent experience, not only for the listener, but for the performer. Every member of the choir has input in the shaping of the music, creating a truly beautiful and unified sound.

Since its founding in 2014, SONUS has created a unique listening experience, as they sing in an open semi-circle with the conductor singing with them in their midst. This allows a uniquely emotional and dynamic performance, as the separation is removed between choir and conductor. Their specialization of straight-tone singing creates yet another level of musical synergy. There is no vibrato to disrupt the overtones created by pure pitches, so the full color of sound can be heard and felt, making SONUS a rich and deeply moving musical experience.
