FLARE: Evan Burcham

This campaign ended on February 01, 2018, but you can still make a gift to Trevecca Nazarene University by clicking here!

I was born and raised in Columbia, TN, by Rob and Lisa Burcham, alongside my twin sister Emily, my older brother David, and my older sister Alyson. I became a Christian at the age of 15 after years of attending church, and since then I have been passionate about teaching others about Jesus. I am currently a senior at Trevecca Nazarene University, and I have majored in Biology during my time at Trevecca with the hopes of pursuing a medical career. However, in the last year, God has led me to go to seminary, and I will be attending The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Fall of 2018 to pursue a Masters in Divinity.

I will be joining Dr. Aaron Hall, assistant professor of exercise science, and Dr. Yanice Mendez, associate professor of biology, with a group of Trevecca students to Jinotega, Nicaragua, where our work will center on injury and infectious disease prevention in a rural population. The goal of the project is to introduce us to the field of public health and its relationship to various other careers in the health sciences, including physical and occupational therapy, nursing, medicine and research careers. We will minister to a rural population served by the Misión para Cristo.
