About Toledo Football Club
Toledo Football Club is an entirely student-run organization and a club sport at The University of Toledo. Current UToledo student, Dylan Brown, and his intramural flag football teammates wished they had the opportunity to play football again. After doing some research online, Dylan discovered the National Club Football Association (NCFA) and after speaking with club football teams and a representative from the NCFA, Dylan reached out to The University of Toledo in December 2019 and proposed the creation of a club football team. Toledo Club Football was officially approved as one of the newest club sports teams at The University of Toledo on February 13, 2020. Thanks to Dylan and his team’s efforts, student-athletes now have a new opportunity to play football after high school by attending The University of Toledo and joining the club football team.
Team Information
After the cancelation of the 2020 season due to COVID-19, the team had a successful first season in 2021. They went 3-3 on the season, with notable wins including 36-6 over Michigan State, 31-7 over Oakland, and Miami (OH).
The team brought on excellent coaches in the fall of 2020 helping to build upon their momentum and success. Head coach, Jamie Young and offensive coordinator, Brad Fields, are former co-owners of the successful semi-pro team, the Toledo Thunder. They are joined by former Ohio State football player, Kenny Hayes, and former Ferris State football player, David Mann, who serve as the linemen coaches. Former Toledo Thunder coach and current Rossford High School football coach, Rich Reno, also joined to coach the offensive skilled players. The team plans to bring in additional coaches in fall 2022 to help with defensive positions and other roles. Having these experienced coaches helps current players improve their skills and provides the team with a strong foundation that will help the program continue to grow.
Toledo Football Club is proud to have the first, female football player in University of Toledo history. Grace Dudziak, the team’s kicker had a perfect 2021 season in both extra points and field goals. This extraordinary accomplishment earned her the nickname "Legatron". She is an inspiration to the team, community and women athletes everywhere aspiring to play football at the collegiate level.
