Help us finish funding the Fred Lorenz Makerspace so it can open THIS SCHOOL YEAR beginning in January!

Our makerspace, named for beloved woodshop teacher, Fred Lorenz, will honor Orchard's roots in hands-on education with an emphasis on experimentation and exploration. Students all ages will have the opportunity to build their visions using low-tech and high-tech tools and materials.

We are so grateful for the many donors who have contributed to our overall Makerspace goal of $1.5 million. We’re almost there! Please consider a gift TODAY to help us raise the remaining $75,000 toward our goal and bring this vision to life!

Meet the Makerspace

Construction is underway for our new facility that will allow preschool through eighth-grade students to define problems, develop prototypes, and build things by hand: The Fred Lorenz Makerspace. Named in honor of legendary Orchard shop teacher Fred Lorenz, our 3,600 square foot, LEED certified Makerspace will reflect the innovative problem solving and practical applications that are at the heart of hands-on learning. Whether working in the Makerspace woodshop or digital design studio, our students and faculty will have additional space and tools to expand their explorations and create meaningful learning experiences.
