Be a Good Apple 2017

This campaign ended on September 29, 2017, but you can still make a gift to The Orchard School by clicking here!
“The Orchard School opened the doors to its first class on October 2, 1922, in the large frame house which Mrs. Carey owned on North Meridian Street. It was a sizeable property, ‘on the outskirts of the city,’ which encompassed five to six acres, including a beautiful orchard with apple, pear and peach trees that faced Illinois Street.”

It has been ninety-five amazing years since that first class. A legacy of children from across central Indiana have spent their formative years in a school that encourages and empowers them to develop into thoughtful, curious, and compassionate young men and women who go on to live productive and interesting lives in Indiana and beyond.

Whether you are a Parent, Grandparent, Alum, Past Parent or Friend of Orchard, your family is a part of this rich ongoing heritage of The Orchard School!

Orchard students have the privilege of experiencing education as architects of their own learning journey. Every day they rush into their classrooms excited to engage in a new day of exploration. They may be applying math skills while building dragonflies as an engineering lesson, utilizing science and social studies criteria while planning a sustainable river city, identifying monarch butterflies while taking an “I spy” walk through the Orchard woods or developing debate skills while participating in a mock Congressional hearing. As in the early days of The Orchard School, students today continue to “learn by doing.” They are active participants in their own understanding of the world leading them to become life-long learners.

In the spirit of our first school in an orchard 95 years ago, we are launching our 2017-2018 Annual Giving Campaign with “Be a Good Apple, Give an Early Gift to The Orchard School Annual Giving Campaign.” From those earliest of days when parents had to “chip in to reduce a funding deficit,” Orchard has looked to its community to support its child-centered programming to ensure it is sustained.

Will you help us reach our goal this year?

*THANK YOU to those who have already made a gift or pledge to this year’s Annual Giving Campaign! Your gift counts towards our 300 donor goal and we will be placing an apple on the tree for you.
