Congratulations to The Class of 2025!
What an amazing Blue Gray Day 2025! We're beyond grateful for the outpouring of support - thank you for being part of our Hill community. We couldn’t do it without you!

As The Hill is honoring two remarkable women - Ellen O. Nelson and Dr. Kathryn R. Malone - we asked them to reflect on their time at Hill with two questions:
Why is Hill special to you:
Ellen: The Hill is very special to me because it is quite literally my home. My father came as a PG, then returned as a faculty member. My mom later joined the faculty as one of the first female department chairs. I was born about a mile and a half away. My son and daughter graduated from here and my husband worked as a teacher and coach for 44 years before he retired last year. It is where I feel rooted and where I find great joy!
Kathy: The timing of my arrival at Hill for the second year of coeducational allowed me to actively participate in the evolution of a new Hill culture and community which built upon the rock solid foundation of Hill's distinguished history. What a joyous adventure that has been.
What is a favorite Hill memory:
Ellen: One of my favorite memories is passing by Wendell dormitory one evening and smelling perfume. Girls had arrived!
Kathy: The almost infinite number of times I had the privilege of watching the light kindle and then glow in the eyes of a student, or colleague, as their mind and soul were ignited by a new idea, perception or insight.
Please join us in congratulating Ellen and Kathy on remarkable careers and thanking them for the mark they have left on The Hill and in our hearts forever...
