Located in the Logan neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jay Cooke Elementary School has been a pillar of education since 1922. We serve more than 400 students from Kindergarten to 8th grade. However, our current schoolyard poses challenges as it consists of rough and crumbling concrete, limiting the play opportunities for our young learners.
Here at Jay Cooke, we value our playtime because we know the endless benefits it brings to our students; recess fosters physical, emotional, and cognitive growth, providing a break from academics. Unstructured play builds social skills, creativity, and confidence.
Why Your Support Matters: We're raising $5,500 through crowdfunding to transform our schoolyard, creating safe spaces for play and learning.
