First To Go

A first-generation student is defined as an individual whose parents did not complete a four-year college degree. Thus, being the first in one's family to pursue higher education represents a significant achievement. This journey is often accompanied by distinct challenges and experiences, and our commitment is to support our first-generation Javelinas in achieving their academic and personal goals as they work towards graduation.

The First To Go initiatives are dedicated to addressing the needs of first-generation students through comprehensive success coaching. Our approach empowers these students with the essential skills, resources, and opportunities that contribute to their holistic development and academic success.

Aligned with our university's core values of care, integrity, pride, innovation, and excellence, our first-generation initiatives are designed to cultivate a strong sense of belonging within our campus community.

Create a Match!

We dare you! Encourage your network to join you in making a gift! You can match gifts dollar for dollar up to a fixed amount and even structure your challenge to be based on donor participation. Matches work best when they are created on the main Javelina Day of Giving campaign. To create a match, simply click on the  "Offer a Matching Gift"  button on the left side of the screen. You can then match by affiliation, your class year, or select a matching designation of your choice.
