Like so many institutions, St. Lawrence has seen both its priorities and needs of its students evolve throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. We also recognize the essential need for action and investment in diversity and inclusion programming, ensuring St. Lawrence is a place that every Laurentian can be proud to call home.
Today, we ask you to help us grow forward.
St. Lawrence must invest in areas that allow University faculty, staff and students to work with passion, empathy and creativity. We have identified four areas that will allow us to take immediate steps towards strengthening our community:
* Need-based Scholarship – Your gift will ensure deserving students, who need financial assistance most, will be afforded a St. Lawrence education.
* Diversity and Inclusion Programming – Your gift will enrich critical on-campus programs geared towards fostering diversity, inclusion and equity.
* Career Focus Programming – Your gift will expand professional opportunities for students, including bolstering internship options and strengthening our mentoring and networking programs.
* The St. Lawrence Fund – Your gift will afford the University the flexibility to put your generosity towards an area of need that requires the most immediate attention.
If Laurentians can collectively raise $200,000 in 36 hours, an anonymous University trustee will endow The IDEAL Scholarship. IDEAL, or Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Across Laurentians, is a dedicated group of alumni volunteers striving to expand engagement for those with underrepresented identities. This new scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who exhibits a continued commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity.
The world needs St. Lawrence. But on June 29 and 30, St. Lawrence needs you. Let’s grow forward together.
You can participate by clicking Give Now or exploring our Ways to Give (for mailing address, phone number, gifts of stock, wire instructions, and the IRA charitable rollover).
The Saints are marching! Thanks to the generosity of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students and friends, we have passed the initial $200,000 goal of The Growing Forward Challenge. Gifts of all sizes, from around the world, have helped us achieve this mark. Nearly every class year since 1947 through 2024 (incoming students) have participated, as well as parents of both current students and alumni, and faculty and staff from all branches of campus. Gifts made today are being put to immediate use to ensure a transformative student experience at St. Lawrence, so thank you so much to our donors for saying "yes" when needed most.
The IDEAL Scholarship is officially endowed, with plans underway to begin awarding this aid to a deserving student for the fall of 2020. For more information about IDEAL, a group of dedicated alumni who strive to strengthen the Laurentian Community by providing expertise, knowledge and perspective in the areas of diversity, inclusion and equity, click here. A special thank you to our anonymous trustee for endowing the scholarship and supporting The Growing Forward Challenge!
Let's keep going 'til 9 p.m. EDT! While our initial goal of $200,000 is eclipsed, needs remain within our community. If you haven't yet made a gift, we hope you'll strive to make this one of our most successful challenges yet by making a gift now! Remember, The Growing Forward Challenge ends at 9 p.m. EDT and today is the final day of St. Lawrence's fiscal year.
