Help Bring Esports to SJC-Long Island!

Esports, or competitive video gaming, has become one of the most popular forms of sporting entertainment in the world. Competitors from different leagues or teams face off in the same games that are popular with at-home gamers: Fortnight, League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Overwatch and Madden NFL, to name a few. These gamers are watched and followed by millions of fans all over the world, who attend live events or tune in on TV or online. With players and viewers worldwide, the space is booming and catching the attention of collegiate athletics organizations, and as such, many schools are adding Esports programs to their on-campus offerings.

St. Joseph's College (L.I.) has ambitions to add a program of its own and compete in the highly-competitive Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The program will benefit the college as a whole in terms of student recruitment and retention. Additionally, entering the collegiate Esports scene when it's in its infancy allows the college to establish itself as a power player in an ever-growing space.

As a competitive, team-based activity, Esports will help our students learn many of the same valuable life lessons taught in conjunction with other more traditional sports. Donations to this campaign well help ensure the program is well staffed, recruited and outfitted with the equipment it needs to be successful.
