Matt Boucher '24 is running the Boston Marathon to support St. John's Prep!
On April 15, St. John’s Prep senior Matt Boucher will embark on the ultimate challenge—running the Boston Marathon. Inspired by his Prep experience, Matt is running to raise support for St. John’s and ensure that future students can have the same life-changing opportunities he did. Special thanks to David Yepez '16 for donating the marathon bib.
Our goal is to raise $26,200—that's $1,000 for every mile—for the Fund for St. John’s by Marathon Monday. Can we count on you to help Matt cross the finish line?
Whether you're an alum, parent, grandparent, faculty or staff member, student, or friend of St. John's, your donation of any size will directly benefit our students and their education. Matt has dedicated his senior spring to doing something incredible for the Prep community. Let's rally together and make his race one for the books!

We are thrilled to congratulate student Matt Boucher ’24 on his incredible 26.2 mile run in yesterday’s Boston Marathon! We could not be more proud of his determination and strength from start to finish.
And THANK YOU to the 338 donors who helped raise nearly $49,000 for the Fund for St. John's! These gifts will make an immediate, positive impact on our entire School, strengthening areas such as student programs, faculty and staff professional learning, tuition assistance, and other critical needs.
Special thanks to Prep alumnus Joe White ’92 for enthusiastically matching nearly $15,000 in donations and also to alumnus and Alumni Board Member David Yepez ’16 for donating the marathon bib to St. John’s that made Matt’s run possible. It's these displays of strength, enthusiasm, and encouragement that make St. John's the incredible place that it is.

With just three days left until Marathon Monday, we are thrilled to announce a new match incentive. Inspired by Matt's commitment to St. John's, alumnus Joe White '92 will generously match all gifts received by Monday at midnight, up to $15,000!
Your donation to the Fund for St. John’s—whether $10, $50, $100, or more—will now make twice the impact for our students. Let's show Matt that the Prep community is behind him every step of the way!
Find out what inspired the St. John’s senior to take on the Boston Marathon and what he’s learned along the way!
Q: What motivated you to run the Boston Marathon during your senior year?
A: Running the marathon is something I’ve been thinking about for years. When I finally turned 18, I figured why wait! Plus, it’s great to have a direct role in supporting future students. I know all the life-changing opportunities that the Prep provides, and I'm learning the Fund for St. John’s is critical in making that happen.
Q: What have you learned about yourself while training?
A: I think the biggest thing is that I need to listen to my body. Not every run has felt perfect, but knowing my body and knowing my limits has helped keep myself in check. Another major thing I’ve learned is how important it is to ask for help. Talking to coaches and people who have run the marathon has helped me see other perspectives and improve overall as a runner.
Q: What is one takeaway from your time at the Prep from 6th grade to 12th grade?
A: I think my biggest takeaway has just been the people I have been fortunate enough to make strong connections with. Whether it be teachers, coaches, or friends, I know that there are people on this campus that truly care about me and want to see me succeed no matter what position I’m in.
Q: Lastly, what message do you have for the donors who will be supporting your journey to the finish line?
A: In taking on any long-term challenge, it’s important to know that you are not alone. Thank you for being with me and supporting me and the Fund for St. John’s!
