The goal of the McNair Scholars Program is to increase the attainment of doctoral degrees by students who come from underrepresented segments of society. Participants in the McNair Scholars Program come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have demonstrated strong academic potential. They're united in their goal to pursue doctoral studies.
The program provides funding for faculty-directed research, visits to graduate schools, academic counseling, course tutoring, professional conference fees, GRE exam preparation, and expert advising on graduate school selection and application processes.
Your gift to support the McNair Scholars Program will support items that we cannot pay with grant money, such as:
- GRE reports for graduate applications that are not included in their GRE registration
- Promotional materials with logos to increase our program's reach in the community
- Food for events such as hands-on workshops and information meetings to recruit new scholars
- Individual professional memberships that are often a requirement for attendance at conferences
- Any expenses outside the US, such as those incurred by scholars who are doing research while studying abroad
Thank you for supporting our Hilltop community with your gifts of time, talent, and treasure during #LoveBlueGiveGold! Your collective efforts will make a huge difference for our amazing students and cherished campus traditions. We're really feeling the love!
