Southwestern University received the Hispanic Serving Institutes (HSI) designation in July 2023. HSIs are eligible to apply for federal grants that can be used for various purposes, including student financial aid, faculty development, and programs that support Hispanic students’ success. The HSI designation is particularly beneficial for Hispanic students, but all students benefit from the increased resources and a more diverse campus environment.
We invite you to support our growing campus offerings, such as expanding the Hispanic Heritage Month celebration as featured in the video and sending students to attend the annual Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Leadership Institute Conference. Last year, seven of our students attended the three-day event, where they connected with peers, observed diverse leadership styles, and participated in workshops, networking, and mentoring sessions.
