SOUTHWESTERN WOMEN'S SOCCER BOMBARDS SAINT MARY WITH FIVE GOALS IN DOMINANT 5-1 DISPLAY

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – A barrage of goals found the back of the net for the Southwestern College women's soccer team in their second KCAC battle of the season on Wednesday night in Leavenworth, Kan. against the Saint Mary Spires. Bryanna Kuhn boasted a hat trick in the match, as she completed the oft-cited achievement for the first time in her young career.

It was Kuhn who started the action with a flurry, as she scored her first goal before a minute had even passed. The 1st minute tally was just what the team needed after the heart-wrenching shutout loss in overtime to Tabor on Saturday.

Later on in the half, it was Kuhn again, this time in the 70th minute who knocked another one into the goal. A beautiful feed from Lydia Travis in the 18th minute led to Kuhn's second of three deposits between the pipes.

A score of 2-0 would remain until the second half, when Saint Mary attempted to get their foot in the door with a tally from Karleigh Enyart. The goal cut the lead in half, 2-1.

However, the last 20 minutes swung back completely in Southwestern's favor, as the squad scored three times over that span to extend the lead to four.

The first of the final three goals was scored by Caitlin Estrin, who found the back of the net for the first time in her SC career. Her goal was scored in the 72nd minute of play.

In the 84th minute, Kuhn achieved her hat trick, scoring the final goal of her brilliant night off a Morgan Mitchell pass. Her third goal of the night gives her a total of five already this season.

To rub salt in the wound of the Spires, they allowed yet another goal to the Builders. Lauren Fleischer fired the final salvo, as Kuhn was credited with an assist, giving her a total of four points in the match.

Mallorie Lund saved four shots in the effort, and recorded the victory in net for Southwestern. With the win, she evens her season record in net up at 1-1-0.

The Moundbuilders (3-2-1, 1-1-0 KCAC) will head back to Winfield for another conference battle on Saturday against the York Panthers at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. With a victory, the Builders would sport a winning record in conference play early on in the campaign.
