About

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) offers programs and services that ensure underrepresented students are seen, heard and valued—which we know translates to academic and personal success. These programs are funded, in part, by the Smith community. We’re raising $250,000 so our students can continue to thrive.

Will you give a gift to support OMA and its programs?

Our programs help students develop leadership skills, build community, strengthen pride in cultural identity, and enjoy the feeling of mattering that is key to believing in oneself.

Please donate today. Your donation to OMA directly provides for:

The Multicultural Experience (ME!), a weekly advising and mentoring program that lifts up underrepresented students as they investigate and envision what they can accomplish with their lives at Smith and beyond.

The Bridge Program, an extension of inclusive recruitment and retention efforts that supports students of color in their crucial first year at Smith and helps to establish cross-cultural friendships.

The Mwangi Cultural Center, named in honor of Kenya’s first female physician, Dr. Ng’endo Mwangi ’61, provides a physical space for students and cultural organizations to engage in holistic programming, host discussions and build community.

The Emergency Fund for Students of Color, a discretionary endowed fund that assists Smithies to pay for necessities, such as eyeglasses and books, or to provide funds during unforeseen personal crises.

Just as words are powerful, so are donations—your gift sends another resounding welcome to current and future students of color.

Updates
We've met our goal!

Due to the generosity of the Smith community, The Smith Fund was able to meet its goal of raising $250,000 for Inclusive Smith!

Many thanks to all who supported this effort.

The Inclusive Smith campaign will remain open until June 30 for those who would still like to support the Smith initiatives that engage, connect, and embrace underrepresented students.
