Matching Gift Challenge For Diversity Initiatives At Skidmore

While Skidmore takes enormous pride in the many ways that our community members have fought injustice on and off campus throughout our history, we know that we must do even more to create a socially just world that honors the dignity and worth of each individual.

A generous Skidmore family has stepped forward to help advance this work. From now until April 30^th, they will match every gift, dollar-for-dollar, to support The Center, the Racial Justice Initiative, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programming, up to $15,000 for each of these critical areas.

The Center – a space that students, alumni, and faculty have long called for—will open in the fall of 2021 and become a new home for the Skidmore Community to engage in today’s most essential and challenging conversations.

The Racial Justice Initiative – launched on President Marc Conner’s first day in office, has already led Skidmore to, for instance, become a founding member of the Liberal Arts College Racial Equity Alliance, and lend a strong voice to Saratoga Springs’ Police Reform and Reinvention Task Force.

Neither The Center nor The Racial Justice Initiative could operate without the support of the many other Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs at Skidmore. All contribute to building a community centered on mutual respect and openness to ideas – and one that shares the responsibility for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
