At Saturday's 40th Anniversary Gala & Auction, 76 ISTP families came together to raise $122,750 for this year's Fund-a-Need: Expanding Student Possibilities. If you have not participated or were unable to attend the event, there is still time to help us reach the goal of $150,000! The campaign will end Tuesday, April 2nd at 10:00 PM.
This year’s Fund a Need is all about expanding our students’ horizons. By extending learning beyond the classroom on Cowper, taking our art program into the digital world, and bringing virtual reality into the classroom – with your help we can open up even more possibilities
On Cowper, we hope to build an “outdoor classroom,” including a "mud kitchen" and an outdoor reading nook, to make the outdoors an
extension of our intentionally designed indoor learning spaces. The outdoor
classroom will be a space for our youngest students to explore, wonder, create, and
learn to construct meaning as they interact with the natural world.
Cowper teachers also dream of enriching early years P.E. with parcours and gymnastics equipment, to construct fun and challenging obstacle courses that facilitate the development of essential gross motor skills.
On Cohn Campus we hope to expand student possibilities by introducing Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) into the classroom. AR and VR have emerged as exciting new 21st century learning tools, and have shown great potential to inspire and engage students.
We hope to use the Google Expeditions immersive education app to allow teachers and students to explore the world through AR and VR tours.
Finally, we hope to add more digital tools to our art program, including new iPad Pros and Apple pencils. With these tools, students can explore new possibilities for expression, including digital drawing and animation.
We are really excited to bring these new possibilities to our students – tools that will facilitate the moments of connection, discovery, and joy in learning that education is all about. We are incredibly thankful that your generosity allows us to continue to enrich and expand our students’ experiences at ISTP.
