A MESSAGE FROM CHERYL GIRR MROZOWSKI ’70

CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

It is my hope that as our communities adapt to the new realities that come with the spread of the coronavirus, you and your family continue to be safe and well. I am especially grateful at a time like this for Salve Regina’s mercy heritage as we navigate these uncharted waters.

Many people have asked how they can best help during these unanticipated and unusual circumstances that may leave students, their families and the University with unprecedented financial challenges.

The Mercy Emergency Relief Fund was established several years ago as a way to support the Salve Regina community and the University in times of need due to extraordinary circumstances. The allocation of donations to this fund is designated by the president, as needed. At this time, President Kelli J. Armstrong will utilize the Mercy Emergency Relief Fund to support the many efforts under way on behalf of our students and the University that have arisen from the global pandemic.

As a graduate of Salve Regina and advocate for mercy, I invite you to join me in donating to the Mercy Emergency Relief Fund should your personal circumstances allow. I can assure you that all gifts, no matter the amount, will help.

Now, more than ever, I am reminded of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, who dedicated her life to reaching out to those in need. The example she set in calling others to “be shining lamps, giving light to all around us” is one that resonates today in a world where compassion and concern for others will carry us through these uncertain times.

Please be safe, take care and know that Salve Regina is always here for you.
