About

Dr. Raymond L. Picozzi was a professor at Rhode Island College from 1961-1997. From 1961-1970 he taught in the Department of Elementary Education and held a joint appointment from 1971-1977 in the Department of Elementary Education and in Communication & Theater. For 14 years he served as department chair, first of the Department of Communication & Theater and later as chair of the newly joined Department of Theater and Dance. During the 1970s he served as director of the College's children's theater program and in 1981 he became the director of the college's musical theater performance program and directed numerous productions over 15 years.

In addition to teaching and directing he was known locally, regionally, and nationally for his publications, workshops, volunteerism, and for his involvement in various other college and community projects and theater productions.
