About


Embracing diversity and learning from a variety of perspectives is critical to Randolph's continued success. The Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion plan was developed by our Chief Diversity Officer, Keesha Burke-Henderson with the vision of centralizing and promoting work that directly addresses social issues within the Randolph community and locally. The mission of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion plan is to build a culture reflective of the current and future student body. 

Together, Keesha Burke-Henderson and the Office of Equity and Inclusion aim to proactively develop and support social justice practices and implement co-curricular programming to enhance a multicultural, interdisciplinary, collaborative, innovative, compassionate campus climate leading to diversity reflected in staff, faculty, students and program offerings. 

Specifically, here is what your gift to the Annual Fund for Diversity and Inclusion can help support:


  • Each month during the semester Randolph will offer professional development sessions that cover topics in Diversity, Equity, Justice, Anti-Racism, Cultural Competence, Conflict Management and Transformation, Welcoming and Compassion techniques.
  • Book Club with readings that reinforce and enhance the professional development sessions.
  • Form affinity & interest groups across campus (Asian, Black, Latino, Indigenous group, Gay/ Straight Alliance, Philosophy of Mind, etc.).


  • Work with Admissions & Dean of Students to develop student leaders (Residence Life, Orientation, SG, Student organizations, Lunch & Leadership).
  • Diversity Orientation for incoming students identified as Black, African-American, Latino/ Hispanic, Asian, Indigenous students.
  • Monthly development workshops scheduled specifically for Black, African-American, Latino/ Hispanic, Asian, Indigenous students.
  • Trips to cultural and historical sites.
  • Cultural programming and events calendar i.e. Women’s History, Black History, Latino/ Hispanic Heritage, Indigenous Heritage, Multicultural Fair.
  • Speakers, lecturers, book purchases, training packets, marketing and promotional materials for student town halls. 
  • Ability to offer supplemental financial support to students if they are experiencing any insecurities (food, homelessness, technology).
  • Funds needed to encourage academic and professional attainment (application fees, professional organizations). This will be a competitive process.
  • Work with counseling services to assist students with microaggressions and mental health care.


  • Summer Africana and African American Institute featuring scholars across disciplines for one week. Full immersion for a six-hour day with one scholar and their work. At the end of the week participants will earn a certificate.
  • Global scholars lecture series and panel- one speaker per semester that will present a lecture, meet with classes and engage with faculty on a panel or roundtable discussion.


  • Convene the Community Advisory Team monthly to tackle Bias policy and procedure. 
  • Chair JEDIS committee - responsible for overall comprehensive Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Sustainability plan.
  • LACRELA/NACC partnership
  • Partner with Central Virginia Diversity officers.
  • Liaison to Links International scholars.

Thank you so much for your wonderful support on Randolph's Give Day! We are excited to share that over 700 of you contributed more than $332,000 to benefit our students and faculty . . . and we are still counting!

Here are a few interesting details from the day:

  • Donors matched more than $88,000!
  • The Classes of '78, '84, and '86 topped the class leaderboard for most gifts. The EVENS narrowly edged out the ODDS for most gifts!
  • Students from the Classes of 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 gave.
  • Gifts came from 41 states and the farthest gift was from Germany.

We are deeply grateful for your generosity that supports Randolph students as they work to become our world's next leaders, problem-solvers, and change-makers.
