The Rose Scholarship is awarded each year to a student dedicated to giving back to their community and who shows extraordinary motivation and determination. Years ago at each district in-service, the college would present bouquets of roses to long-term faculty and staff until someone came up with the great idea to start a scholarship honoring that long-term service instead of the rose presentation.
Since then, we have heard many of the Rose Scholars speak at in-service or other college events. We've learned of their triumphs and the obstacles they've overcome. They tell us about their future hopes and dreams. Most have plans for continuing their education beyond PCC. Some have dreams of medical school while others have gone on to study at prestigious institutions like Yale. Several have been inspired to pursue careers serving in the community and others work in business or industry.
They are all grateful for the opportunity to receive a scholarship, with less worry about how they are going to pay for their educational pursuits.
Thanks to the generosity of Jerry Ekstrom and the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund, the first $2,250 in gifts will be matched 2:1, TRIPLING your impact!
Join the Retiree Network as we work to raise $4,500 for the Rose Scholarship on Big Give Day by making a gift now! Be sure to encourage your friends to do the same by sharing Big Give Day on social media using the hashtag #PCCBigGiveDay.
