At the start of the pandemic, Pitzer established the COVID-19 Relief Fund to help the College maintain its commitment to our students, faculty, and staff. In the spirit of this commitment, as we embarked on the fall 2020 semester online, the College continued providing virtual-learning tools and increased financial aid to our most vulnerable students, helping offset food, technology and housing costs that students wouldn’t have incurred if they were living on campus.
The cost of this support comes to approximately $1.6 million in unbudgeted expenses. Coupled with other lost revenue, we anticipate a total budget shortfall of $7 million. However, we remain “mindful of the future” or Provida Futuri—Pitzer’s motto. We have created the Provida Futuri Fund to support our students’ educational journey. Formerly known as the COVID-19 Relief Fund, it is designed to offset the unexpected costs of the COVID-19 pandemic as it continues to impact higher education and the mission of Pitzer College.

We are proud of the steps that have been taken thus far, including avoiding employee layoffs, but your support is a significant factor in determining how the College moves forward from this moment. An annual contribution or a monthly recurring donation of any amount will make a difference for Pitzer students today and into the future. Make an even greater impact with a leadership gift of $1,963 or more as a member of the Pitzer Society. Or provide for future generations of Pitzer students through a gift in your will or living trust as a member of the Provida Futuri Society.
As we launch this academic year, we ask you to help sustain the strength of our community by making a gift to Pitzer today. Thank you for giving whatever you can to honor Pitzer’s past, preserve its present, and provide for its future.
Provida Futuri.
