This year, we have chosen to highlight the First-Generation Programming Fund and the Pitzer Internship Fund.
The Class of 2020 is committed to the success of every student, present and future, entering the next phase in life. By offering students the opportunity to explore fields of interest or supporting first-generation college students, we want to help equip the student body with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed after graduation. Your donation to the Senior Class Gift will support Pitzer students in their professional pursuits.
Continuing an annual tradition, seniors at the 5Cs are going head to head to see which college can get the highest percentage of its graduating class to donate to their Senior Class Gift. The school with the highest participation wins Ellen the Pig, the official 5C Senior Class Gift competition trophy! Last year, Pitzer lost Ellen to CMC. We can’t let that happen twice in a row, so let’s get Ellen back. Any senior who donates $1 or more will be counted, so please give today!
By making a gift today to the First-Generation Programming Fund or the Pitzer Internship Fund, you can help leave Pitzer even greater than we found it.
- The First-Generation Programming Fund supports activities and programs designed for first-generation college students. Since 2013, applications from first-gen students to Pitzer have increased by 44 percent. This fund helps expand resources for students whose parents or guardians did not earn a college degree and may not be able to help their student navigate through the ins and outs of college life.
- The Pitzer Internship Fund supports students who are seeking research opportunities or job experiences by providing funding for unpaid or low-paid internships.
Want to give to something else? You can! Here are some other important funds at Pitzer:
- The Pitzer Fund is Pitzer’s highest fundraising priority. It is an important resource for financial aid, academic initiatives, and student programs and services. Tuition does not cover the full cost of a Pitzer education, and the College’s endowment does not generate the full amount needed to support our students: the Pitzer Fund helps cover the gap.
- Sagehen Athletics—General is an unrestricted fund to support the greatest needs in Pomona-Pitzer Athletics.
- The Diversity Program Fund supports and cultivates educational programs, activities, and opportunities that address social justice and human diversity within the Pitzer community and the world-at-large.
- The Study Abroad Student Support Fund provides a financial award to cover costs beyond financial aid, such as passports, visas, baggage fees, transportation costs, or day-to-day incidentals.
- Strive to Thrive is a health and wellness program critical for equipping Pitzer students to learn and achieve the maximum benefits from their undergraduate days. Programming includes Wellness Wednesdays, positive psychology classes, art workshops, and more.
