The global generosity movement that takes place annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, commonly know as “Giving Tuesday,” serves as the kickoff to the holiday season and an opportunity to show our gratitude by giving back to our community. As you’re thinking about which causes to support, we hope you’ll consider Pitzer!
During last year’s GivingTuesday, more than 600 members of the Pitzer community helped raise over $360,000 in support of mental health and wellbeing, professional development, student engagement and inclusion and belonging. This year we have a goal of reaching 650 donors and raising $500,000 by December 31, 2022. Will you help us reach our goal?
This year’s GivingTuesday highlights three funds: the Pitzer Fund, the Pitzer Internship Fund, and the Melvin L. Oliver Racial Justice Initiative Fund. We hope you’ll consider supporting one of these funds, or other Pitzer fund of your choice, this GivingTuesday.
- The Pitzer Fund allows the College to direct resources to the areas of greatest need while supporting new and exciting opportunities for future generations of learners. Gifts to the Pitzer Fund serve as the foundation for a Pitzer education and are directed to three critical areas: scholarships and financial aid; world-class faculty; and a wide range of student programs.
- The Pitzer Internship Fund provides funding for unpaid or low-paid summer internships. The goal of the Pitzer Internship Fund is to support student engagement in meaningful internship experiences that facilitate career exploration and the development of professional skills and networks.
- The Melvin L. Oliver Racial Justice Initiative Fund supports the College’s efforts to promote analysis and activism around racial justice issues through curricular-, co-curricular-, and structural transformation. Gifts to this fund allow the College to reimagine courses and create new ones; invest in faculty and student research projects and creative collaborations; support in-depth research, public talks, and workshops; and support scholarly, research, and programmatic activities.
