For over fifty years, public media has led innovations in education, utilizing emerging technologies to enhance learning and support caregivers. From the pioneering work of Fred Rogers and Joan Ganz Cooney in the 1960s, PBS, PBS KIDS, and local stations have built a reputation for combining education and entertainment in their programs for children.
As central PA's PBS station, WPSU continues this tradition by creating and distributing content that supports learning. Recently, the WPSU Education team has launched Cozy Corners, interactive spaces designed to engage children while their parents attend meetings or consultations. These Cozy Corners, equipped with tables, chairs, PBS KIDS activity sheets, books, and other learning materials, have been installed at seven partner locations in permanent spaces and mobile “Cozy Corner on the Go” sets across northern and central PA.
Cozy Corners aim to foster positive interactions between parents and children, alleviating stress during long waiting periods and keeping kids engaged in meaningful activities.
Maintaining and expanding these Cozy Corners is essential for their continued success. This GivingTuesday, WPSU seeks to raise $5,000 to support the upkeep and expansion of these spaces. Your contribution can make a significant impact:
- $25 – Provides printed activity packets to a Cozy Corner site
- $50 – Supplies additional educational toys and resources to a Cozy Corner site
- $75 – Supplies printed activity packets to all current Cozy Corner sites
- $100 – Creates a new “Cozy Corner on the Go” set
- $250 – Provides educational toys and resources to a new Cozy Corner site
Your support will help ensure that Cozy Corners continue to effectively serve families and expand to reach more communities. Thank you for your generosity!
