Help provide PLU students with an unforgettable learning experience! During Spring Break 2020, students in the course "Gender, Race, and History in the US South" will travel to Tennessee (Memphis) and Alabama (Selma, Montgomery, and Birmingham) to study slavery and the Civil Rights movement. Specifically, student will visit The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee; The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute; National Voting Rights Museum in Selma, Alabama; and The National Museum of Peace and Justice & Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama to explore how places of remembrance and memorializing address the relationship between gender and race in slavery and the Civil Rights Movement.
