Hello! I'm Sarah Johnson, a senior at Olivet Nazarene University! I'm currently studying Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and am involved in working student employment on campus. Olivet has allowed me to grow so much and has shaped me in ways I never would have thought of over the last four years. This coming spring, Shalom Project is organizing various ministry trips both in the country and internationally. I have the AMAZING opportunity to travel to Nicaragua to support and learn from the community there! Nicaragua, which is the largest country in Central America, is home to 19 active and extinct volcanoes, beautiful scenery, and known for natural warmth, hospitality, and wisdom.
This is a great opportunity to be immersed in a culture very different from America. My team will be partnering with other local organizations and churches making an impact in Masatepe. Some activities that we always do include home visits, a meal in our Nicaraguan staff’s homes, attending church in the community. While this is a huge and exciting adventure, I will need help raising the funds to embark on it! Thank you for your support and prayers as I commit to raising these funds. If you're willing, please donate here! And thank you, thank you for all your support!! I can't wait to see how God works through this experience:)
We will be partnering with other local organizations and churches making an impact in Masatepe. A few other goals that will be made are for teams are building relationships with Nicaraguans, being an encouragement to the community, and learning about healthy poverty alleviation. We will also get to experience Nicaraguan culture, learn about poverty and healthy community development, get to know our staff, and experience how the Lord is working. Some activities that we always do include home visits, a meal in our Nicaraguan staff’s homes, attending church, and participating in our team devotional that we have every week.
