Hi, my name is Madelyn Bull and I'm a senior at Olivet Nazarene University this year. I'm studying Psychology, Sociology, and Legal Studies and I am a member of Orpheus Choir. I also plan to go to law school after graduating! I have made wonderful friends and connections here at ONU, participated in various School of Music events, served as an RA, and my relationship with the Lord has genuinely flourished during my time here. As my faith has matured, I have desired to get outside of my comfort zone in new ways and serve people that are typically underserved, whether in my own community or in another country; this trip to Nicaragua is a wonderful opportunity to do just that!
Next spring, I will be part of a team partnering with the organization One Collective for this ministry trip March 1-8. The primary goal of One Collective short-term teams is to fuel the long-term work of meeting physical and spiritual needs in Nicaragua. To that end, the team's time is generally split between working on projects that move ministries toward their goals; there is also a significant focus on partnering with other local organizations and churches making an impact in Masatepe. My team will strive to build relationships, encourage the community, and learn about healthy poverty alleviation. We will be immersed in Nicaraguan culture, learn about poverty and healthy community development, and experience how the Lord is working firsthand.
While I wish that I could fund this trip myself, that is not possible as a student; regardless, I know that God will provide all that I need for this trip. Please do not feel obligated to give, but if you feel led that would be greatly appreciated as I set out to serve God's kingdom in Nicaragua! Most importantly though, I value the power of prayer; so please keep my team and I in prayer as we prepare to embark on this trip!
