¡Hola! I'm Evelyn Gelacio, a sophomore at Olivet Nazarene University, majoring in Elementary Education with an ESL endorsement. This year, I have the privilege of serving as a Resident Assistant for freshman girls and as a peer mentor for first-year minority students. I’m also involved in the Hispanic Student Christian Association (HSCA) and the Christian Educators Association (CEA). Olivet has provided me with amazing opportunities to grow—not only as an individual but also in my faith and relationship with God.
This spring, the Shalom Project is organizing ministry trips both domestically and internationally, and I am thrilled to share that I have the incredible opportunity to travel to Nicaragua from March 1-8! My team and I will be partnering with One Collective, supporting long-term efforts to meet both physical and spiritual needs in Nicaragua. Together, we’ll collaborate with local organizations and churches in Masatepe, building relationships, encouraging the community, and learning about poverty alleviation. Along the way, we’ll experience the richness of Nicaraguan culture through home visits, shared meals, church services, and weekly team devotionals.
I’m grateful for this opportunity and would love your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal! If you’d like to contribute, please donate here. Thank you for your prayers and generosity—I’m excited to see how God moves through this experience!
