Hi! My name is Madison Zeldenrust, and I’m a junior at Olivet Nazarene University, double majoring in Public Relations and Corporate Communication with a minor in Leadership. Over the past few years, Olivet has helped me grow in countless ways, and I feel incredibly blessed by the experiences I've had here. This spring, I have the amazing opportunity to be a part of the Shalom Project and travel to Guatemala to serve the community and immerse myself in the vibrant culture of this beautiful country.
Guatemala, located in the heart of Central America, is known for its ancient Mayan ruins, stunning landscapes, and rich culture. Unfortunately, more than 50% of the population lives below the poverty line. During our trip, I’ll be working with my team to run a soccer program for kids, tutor English classes, and support local ministries and orphanages. A key part of our mission will be teaching at a multi-media camp for young people from across Mesoamerica. This will not only give me the chance to share skills I’ve developed through my studies at Olivet but also help me grow in leadership and cross-cultural communication while building relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
In addition to our ministry work, I’ll have the chance to explore the beauty of Guatemala, from the historic architecture of Antigua to the breathtaking natural landscapes that make this country a must-see destination.
I am so excited for this incredible opportunity, but it’s also a leap of faith. Taking part in this trip requires stepping outside of my comfort zone in ways I’ve never experienced before. It’s a chance for me to grow spiritually, personally, and professionally, but I can't do it alone. I’ll need support to make this trip a reality, and I would be so grateful for your prayers and contributions. If you’re able, please consider donating to help me reach my goal. Thank you so much for your generosity, and I can’t wait to see how God works through this experience!
Thank you so much for your support—I can’t wait to see how God works through this experience! The trip departs on May 4th, 2025, and I’m already excited to share what I learn and experience along the way. Thank you again!
