Hello! My name is Camden Koester, and I am a freshman at Olivet Nazarene University. Through the Shalom mission trip project and my communication department I have gotten the opportunity to travel to Guatemala this summer! During the trip I get the amazing opportunity to visit Central America and learn, support, and experience the culture and community there. Guatemala is home to the ancient Mayan ruins, beautiful scenery, and more that 50% of its nation is living below the poverty line. My team gets the opportunity to attend and teach at a multimedia camp and share the skills and experience that we have learned through classes at Olivet!
This trip will be my first time leaving the county and I am beyond excited to experience a new culture as I learn and serve. Not only will I have the privilege of serving the community in Guatemala, but I also get a chance to learn and grow in my faith and improve my communication skills. This is a two-week mission trip, and I will need help raising the funds to attend. Thank you for your support and prayers as I commit to raising these funds. If you're willing, please donate here! And thank you so much for all your support! I am looking forward to seeing how God grows me through this trip!
As a part of the Shalom Project trip to Guatemala, students will have a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while exploring a vibrant culture. By teaching at a multi-media camp for young people from across Mesoamerica, students will not only share valuable skills they have learned through classes at Olivet, but also foster connections with people from diverse backgrounds, all while gaining hands-on experience in leadership and cross-cultural communication. Beyond the multi-media camp, students will have the chance to immerse themselves in the beauty of Guatemala, from the rich history and architecture of Antigua to the breathtaking landscapes that make this country a must-see destination. This trip promises both personal growth and unforgettable experiences.
