Hi Friends! My name is Korey, and I am a Junior at Olivet, studying Social Work. Since transferring to Olivet last January I have found a genuine community, unlike any other. I have been surrounded by countless friends, mentors, professors, and neighbors who have made Bourbonnais feel like home. This year I have had the privilege of working as the Shalom Project Intern, helping to organize our 9 ministry trip teams + planning community volunteer projects!
In March, I will be joining our Cactus, Texas Ministry Trip team to serve alongside Cactus Nazarene Ministry Center. CNMC provides ESL classes, legal/citizenship assistance, health clinics, after-school programs, and more. Aside from my position in the Shalom Project Office, I have connected with CNMC for a research class, getting to know their incredible Staff!
Although, I have never been to Texas, I know I will feel at home, alongside their loving community! Recently, I have been 're-discovering' the true passion needed to serve intentionally and authentically. While serving in Pueblo Modelo Guatemala + Poás Costa Rica, I found Christ following us into every conversation, project, and task. When choosing which Ministry Trip to join, I felt the Lord calling me to Texas, reminding me of the ministry opportunities in the United States. I am beyond excited to see the way Christ has been working in Cactus, Texas!
