Greetings Spirit of ’71 Classmates!
We hope this note finds you well! It’s been quite a year with all the election craziness and scary global issues. Hopefully, the Advent Season with Christmas carols and family gatherings will bring times of peace, hope and love!
The times were certainly “a changin'” when we were in college, but today’s college students are faced with an even more divided society, scary global tensions, and even AI. It’s a great time to give some help to current Olivet students.
Our scholarship fund is growing steadily, but we need to keep giving each year to reach our goal of $200,000 by our 55th reunion, in less than two years. Please consider giving $71 or a good multiple of $71, whatever you feel led to do. It all adds up! Students are benefitting!
We have four recipients this year who benefitted from a $1,000 scholarship via the Spirit of '71 Scholarship Fund:
- Kristle Cruz, Sophomore, Criminal Justice
- Levi Maafala, Junior, Multimedia Communications
- (One of nearly 100 students from Hawaii and the Pacific Rim)
- Jessy Stream, Junior, Youth Ministry
- Madison Wood, Junior, Environmental Science
For more information on various tax-efficient giving options, please call the Office of Development at (815) 939-5171.
In this holiday season the most important gift you can give a person is prayer! Please spend some time in prayer for these students, the faculty, staff, and administration at Olivet. These are challenging times for all schools of higher education, especially genuinely Christian schools! Pray for Dr. Chenoweth, our scholarship recipients, and every person you know at ONU! We know prayer changes things!
Lord, Jesus, please pour out your Holy Spirit on every person at Olivet!
Thank you and God bless you!
On behalf of the Spirit of '71 Scholarship Committee,
Jerry and Carol Dockery
