The Monarch Pantry is a resource to meet the immediate food needs of students and provides a variety of non-perishable items and toiletries for ODU students. The Monarch Pantry has seen incredible growth in its usage since opening in 2020.

The College and University Basic Needs Insecurity Report states that “1 in 3 college students will face food insecurity nationally.” (Goldrick-Rab et al., 2019) This need is reflected on our campus. With student usage of the Monarch Pantry skyrocketing, we now see almost six times the number of students per month. This has led to an increase in supplies needed to meet the needs of ODU Students. By donating to the FeedODU initiative, you are directly contributing to the Monarch Pantry and helping to end food insecurity on campus!
Testimonials
"I live with my family here. Being international students it is hard to feel inclusive during these difficult times. The 'Monarch Pantry' really made us feel like we belong to the community here. It felt like someone from ODU cares for us and it felt great to be cared. The items provided are helpful and I am grateful for the donors." - Sujatha, PhD student
"I cannot thank you enough for the food you have supplied for 2 weeks for me and my mom. She is a single mother and I am already relying on ODU scholarships for my education. While this action by ODU of suppling food is not mandatory, it is so helpful to me personally and my community. I am so appreciative. Money is really tight, especially now, so it is a blessing to now worry about groceries for a while. The “need” in our community comes in many shapes and forms. Again, thank you so much for everything. You guys are amazing." - Madison, 2023
"The monarch pantry is such a wonderful and thoughtful idea to help students of the ODU community. It is amazing that our faculty and staff care so much to provide food for students during these hard times. The monarch pantry is so important to odu because it illustrates the genuine care and concern of all students enrolled in the university." - Kassie, 2020
