NSU Puerto Rico Community Outreach Program

The natural beauty of Puerto Rico and the resilience of the people cannot be denied. Unfortunately, after a series of natural disasters, combined with insufficient access to medical care in many communities, the people and island need assistance. NSU is committed to providing assistance for the people of Puerto Rico. Because of this commitment, every year students, faculty, and alumni from various campuses and health care professions join to provide much needed care. 

The NSU Doctor of Physical Therapy and Mental Health Counseling  Programs in Tampa and Fort Lauderdale, in collaboration with the NSU Puerto Rico Regional Campus, will be working together to add to the outstanding and ongoing community outreach efforts led by the university’s health teams. The DPT and mental health students and faculty will work hand in hand with community leaders and clinicians to provide care for the communities in Caguas, Culebra, Guayama, Humacao, Ponce, Vieques, Utuado, Mayagüez, Cabo Rojo, San Germán Añasco, Loíza, Carolina, Bayamón, Toa Baja, Carolina, Fajardo, Juncos, Humacao,  Dorado, Yabucoa, Las Piedras, Ceiba, San Juan, and Fort Buchanan.

To achieve our goals and make this Shark outreach a success, we are asking for your help in our fundraising to support the efforts of the team. Any amount you contribute will go towards making a difference and enable us to provide access and care to those who need it the most.

La belleza natural de Puerto Rico y la resiliencia de su gente no se puede negar. Desafortunadamente, después de una serie de desastres naturales, combinados con poco acceso  la atención médica en muchas comunidades, la isla y su gente necesitan nuestro apoyo. NSU está comprometido al desarrollo de iniciativas que promuevan el bienestar emocional y físico de la comunidad puertorriqueña. Debido a este compromiso, cada año, estudiantes, profesores y ex alumnos de varios recintos y programas de atención médica se unen para brindar servicios de salud.  

Los programas de Doctorado en Fisioterapia y Consejería de Salud Mental de NSU en Tampa y Fort Lauderdale, en colaboración con el Recinto Regional de NSU en Puerto Rico, trabajaran arduamente para añadir a los esfuerzos sobresalientes y continuos de alcance comunitario. Estos esfuerzos son dirigidos por los equipos de salud de NSU y se llevarán a cabo en los pueblos de Caguas, Culebra, Guayama, Humacao, Ponce, Vieques, Utuado, Mayagüez, Cabo Rojo, San Germán Añasco, Loíza, Carolina, Bayamón, Toa Baja, Carolina, Fajardo, Juncos, Humacao,  Dorado, Yabucoa, Las Piedras, Ceiba, San Juan y Fort Buchanan.
