Challenges are a great way to show your support. Be the first!
ALS is a disease that takes without asking. It robs us of the ability to move, speak, and eventually eat and swallow. What ALS cannot take from us? Hope.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease or Motor Neuron Disease, is a progressive neurological disorder that affects the brain’s ability to control muscle movement. It is estimated that more than 20,000 people are currently living with ALS in the United States. The ALS Clinic at the NSU Health Neuroscience Institute provides specialty care for patients diagnosed with ALS. Our multidisciplinary team approach addresses all aspects of the disease including physical, emotional, and mental well-being. At the NSU Health Neuroscience Institute, we believe that research is our strongest weapon against this debilitating disease. Your Giving Tuesday donation to ALS Research will directly support pre-clinical research and major clinical trials, already underway at the NSU Health Neuroscience Institute, to test promising new drug therapies that have the potential to slow the progression of ALS and give patients the greatest gift of all – the gift of time.
