The world has been turned upside down by the COVID-19 global pandemic. Many Nova Southeastern University students are struggling financially. Some have lost their jobs and cannot afford housing costs. Food insecurity is a real concern.

Why your support is needed:

To help students in need, NSU has created the COVID-19 Student Support Fund. All emergency funds will go directly to the students during this crisis.

How these funds will be used:

Funds will be distributed to approved NSU students. These emergency funds can be used for a wide variety of needs, including but not limited to:

  • Food insecurity
  • Medical bills
  • Technology (laptop, internet access, equipment etc.)
  • Childcare 
  • Transportation to home
  • Course materials
  • Rent and living expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to COVID-19

Student Application for Federal CARES Act/NSU COVID-19 Student Support Funds

Currently enrolled, degree-seeking students at NSU wishing to apply for emergency funds through the COVID-19 Student Support Fund or Federal CARES Act, must complete this application and meet the criteria that demonstrates a need for financial assistance during this pandemic. Note that students who are benefit-eligible NSU employees do not qualify. 

Eligibility: Federal CARES Act Funds

  • Students who are currently enrolled in the 2020 Winter/Spring semesters; and 
  • Students who have filed a 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and 
  • Students who have been enrolled in at least one ground-based (face-to-face) course on or before March 13, 2020 (date of the President Trump’s Proclamation of a National Emergency for the COVID-19 Outbreak).

Eligibility: NSU COVID-19 Student Support Funds

  • Students who are currently enrolled in the 2020 Winter/Spring semesters including those who are not eligible to file a 2019-2020 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  2. Complete this application and include supporting documentation 

Approved students will receive a one-time allocation of emergency Federal CARES Act funds up to $3,000 or NSU COVID-19 Student Support Funds up to $500 based on the type(s) of need, supporting documentation, and availability of federal aid funds or donations received by NSU. Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received.
