Imagine a project so unique yet important that it has brought together three NSU colleges – Business, Osteopathic Medicine, and Nursing – to accomplish a very important goal. Together, we are raising funds for critical medical equipment to be used at NSU and in Egbe, Nigeria.
As a partner with the Egbe Hospitalization Revitalization Project, NSU business students will work with residents of Egbe to help bring additional commerce to the village while Osteopathic Medicine and Nursing will help the hospital and 150-student nursing school in Egbe treat patients through telemedicine and training on the use of equipment.
According to the Revitalization Project’s newsletter, “[F]inding the right medical equipment and maintaining that equipment is about caring for patients and saving lives! This is the heartbeat of Egbe Hospital, located in a rural setting and caring for over 20,000 people annually. The subject of medical equipment involves working with medical mission professionals to procure equipment suitable to the harsh environment, transporting the equipment by shipping container or with volunteers traveling to the hospital, and most importantly, training the staff to maintain and operate the equipment effectively to ensure many years of use.”
This joint effort will help Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship live its new vision, “Best for our WorldTM,” while NSU follows its core value of “community.”
Please assist us in reaching our goal of purchase $20,000 of medical equipment to help our students learn and teach medical techniques with our partners in Egbe, Nigeria.
