About

Join us in supporting the "Cybersecurity for Seniors" program at Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center. This groundbreaking initiative, scheduled for October 2024, aims to empower Broward County seniors against cyber threats.

The need for this program is urgent. The Elder Fraud Report of 2022 revealed an alarming 84% increase in monetary losses due to cybercrime among seniors, totaling $3.1 billion. This program will use insights from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to develop its curriculum, focusing on prevalent threats such as phishing and tech support scams.

By providing seniors with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves online, "Cybersecurity for Seniors" aims to significantly reduce these numbers and enhance the overall security of the local digital ecosystem. Your support will not only protect them from financial loss but also enhance their confidence and independence in an increasingly connected age.

Together, we can reduce cybercrime victimization rates within the senior demographic of Broward County and set a precedent for similar initiatives nationwide. Our campaign will directly address this issue at our October conference and beyond, providing ongoing resources through a dedicated online Library Guide, printed materials, and coordinated outreach events with local partner organizations serving Broward’s senior population. Join us in equipping seniors with the skills to navigate the digital world securely.
