Join us for a month of giving in support of the Anna Russell Jones Award!
Who was Anna Russell Jones?
Anna Russell Jones '22 was the first Black graduate of Moore and a highly accomplished textile designer. Jones was the first Black woman to receive a four-year scholarship from the Philadelphia Board of Education, which allowed her to attend the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (now known as Moore College of Art & Design!) and cultivate her artistic abilities. She went on to be renowned as a talented artist and designer, and was particularly recognized for her work in wallpaper and carpet design.
What is the Anna Russell Jones Award?
Jones' legacy lives on today through the Anna Russell Jones Award, now in its third year.
The Anna Russell Jones Award uplifts students in need and aims to increase the diversity of Moore’s student body by providing funds to underrepresented minority students and financially disadvantaged students. This award helps to offset additional and unexpected costs that students experience throughout the semester, including art kits and other supplies, books, transportation costs, and meals.
How can I support this award?
Honor the legacy of this remarkable Moore alum and help current students in need by giving back in any way that you’re able! This year, our goal is to raise $2,000 by the end of February.
We also invite you to share this campaign and below flyer on social media or with your community to help spread the word. Every donation and every show of support makes a tangible difference in the lives of Moore students!

Alum Kendyl Boyd '21 has made a challenge for all alumni!
"I will double my donation if at least 10 other Moore alumnae give any amount!"
