As we get closer to April, we are preparing to attend the ANS National Student Conference! In the past few years, our student section has had one of the largest contingents of undergraduates attend the conference, and we are proud to represent S&T in that space.
In the last year, we have won the Samuel Glasstone Award for the most outstanding Student Section of ANS. This award is given to the section "which accomplished the most notable achievements in public service and the advancement of nuclear engineering,” the last time S&T’s student section won this was in 1995. We would love to keep that momentum going by providing more opportunities for our students to get involved in our organization.
We have an incredibly active student body and are expecting around 50 of our members to attend this year’s conference, hosted at Penn State University. We even have three senior design groups anticipating to present their projects in addition to our graduate researchers.
We were hoping that you would be willing to make a financial contribution to our student section so we can reduce the impact that travel costs and lodging will have on our members. As you can imagine, organizing such a large group to travel is expected to be quite expensive. We want to be able to bring as many people as possible to this fantastic professional development and networking opportunity to better prepare ourselves for entering the nuclear industry!
Any contribution would go a long way to offsetting costs from our students.
On behalf of the ANS Leadership team,
Thank you
