About

Pop the College Bubble. Be Fully Present. Spread the Love. Missouri State's Immersion Programs allow students the opportunity to spend their breaks (spring, summer, fall) volunteering, immersed in the community. These experiences allow students to learn more about a community, immerse themselves in the culture and social issues that a community faces, and grow as a volunteer into an Active Citizen.

You help our students live the public affairs mission and make a difference in the Kansas City community by making a gift! Your donation will be used for travel expenses, including food, lodging, etc. In addition donations will be used to offer extended service opportunities for Bear Breaks participants before and after their trip.

Support our #citizenbears as they travel to Kansas City, MO (Nov. 4-6) to learn and serve with a focus on youth. Their trip is called "Maximizing Potential: Creating Change for Kansas City Youth." Their goal: to immerse themselves in the community, and to bring their new perspectives to Springfield, MO.

Thank you in advance for your support! Donors can qualify for multiple incentives based on their total gift. For example, a $100 donor will receive all the incentives listed up to and including the $100 level.

If you have questions about the incentives or the immersion trip, please contact alexjohnson@missouristate.edu.

Having a great time!

Our group is having an awesome experience in KC! so far, we have served alongside the Holy Cross school, playing with kids, reading with them, and learning about their stories. Last night, our group reflected on that service experience and talked about how poverty can have many negative effects on kids. As college students, we can play a big role by acting as mentors, advocates, and role models for youth in our community.

Our group has also done some exploring of the city, Including Rockhurst University, the Liberty Memorial, and the Nelson Museum.  Most of our participants have never been to KC!

Tonight, we look forward to cooking a meal for residents at the Ronald McDonald House alongside some MSU Alum.

Thank you for making this Immersion Trip possible, and make sure to follow our journey at @MOStateCCE.
