Dallas, TX Immersion Trip

Pop the College Bubble. Be Fully Present. Spread the Love. Missouri State's Immersion Programs allow students the opportunity to spend their breaks (spring, summer, fall) volunteering, immersed in the community. These experiences allow students to learn more about a community, immerse themselves in the culture and social issues that a community faces, and grow as a volunteer into an Active Citizen.

You will help our students live the public affairs mission and make a difference in the Dallas community by making a gift!  Your donation will be used for travel expenses, including food, lodging, etc.  In addition donations will be used to offer extended service opportunities for Bear Breaks participants before and after their trip.  

Support our #citizenbears as they travel to Dallas during their spring break to learn and serve. Their trip is called Crossing Cultural BEARiers: Impacting Dallas Youth through Education. Multicultural education is vital because it supports the development of children as well as facilitates cooperation among members of our society. Dallas is a culturally diverse city with a vastly growing Hispanic population (approximately 42% and rising). Despite this diversity, children from these varying cultures face many problems due to increasing poverty rates and disparities in access to education. This trip will be working with two organizations that address these needs. Students will work with Wesley-Rankin Community Center to provide a three-day, spring break educational program for children in West Dallas. In addition, students will spend a day serving with Vogel Alcove, an organization that invests in youth and families experiencing homelessness. While serving with these organizations and being immersed in Dallas, students will come to understand the value of cultural diversity and its impact on children, education, and the community. Their goal: to immerse themselves in the community and to bring their new perspectives to Springfield, MO. 

Thank you in advance for your support! Donors can qualify for multiple incentives based on their total gift. For example, a $100 donor will receive all the incentives listed up to and including the $100 level. 

*In addition, MSU alumni that make a qualifying gift of $25 or more receive an Active Alumni Member card.
