Pop the College Bubble. Be Fully Present. Spread the Love. Missouri State's Immersion Programs allow students the opportunity to spend their breaks (spring, summer, fall) volunteering, immersed in the community. These experiences allow students to learn more about a community, immerse themselves in the culture and social issues that a community faces, and grow as a volunteer into an Active Citizen.
You will help our students live the public affairs mission and make a difference in the Aurora community by making a gift! Your donation will be used for travel expenses, including food, lodging, etc. In addition donations will be used to offer extended service opportunities for Bear Breaks participants before and after their trip.
Support our #citizenbears as they travel to Aurora during their spring break to learn and serve. Their trip is called Engaging Colorado: Communicating with At-Risk Youth and Hospitalized Children Using Therapeutic Play. Children’s hospitals are safe places where children can overcome obstacles and recover. Many hospitals are using therapeutic play to connect with the pediatric patients they serve. Play can help children feel a sense of normalcy in an environment that is frankly not normal. Through play, children are able to express themselves and cope with the difficulties they face in the hospital. Therapeutic play is a tool used outside of hospitals as well. During this trip, students will participate in play with children and serve with organizations that work to improve the quality of life for children in Colorado. Their goal: to immerse themselves in the community and to bring their new perspectives to Springfield, MO.
Thank you in advance for your support! Donors can qualify for multiple incentives based on their total gift. For example, a $100 donor will receive all the incentives listed up to and including the $100 level.
*In addition, MSU alumni that make a qualifying gift of $25 or more receive an Active Alumni Member card.
