Asheville, NC Immersion Trip

This campaign ended on March 26, 2017, but you can still make a gift to Missouri State University by clicking here!

Pop the College Bubble. Be Fully Present. Spread the Love. Missouri State's Immersion Programs allow students the opportunity to spend their breaks (spring, summer, fall) volunteering, immersed in the community. These experiences allow students to learn more about a community, immerse themselves in the culture and social issues that a community faces, and grow as a volunteer into an Active Citizen.

You will help our students live the public affairs mission and make a difference in the Asheville community by making a gift!  Your donation will be used for travel expenses, including food, lodging, etc.  In addition donations will be used to offer extended service opportunities for Bear Breaks participants before and after their trip.

Support our #citizenbears as they travel to Asheville during their spring break to learn and serve. Their trip is called Health, Wellness, and What it means to the People in Asheville, NC. Asheville is well-known for its progressive stance on sustainability and push to address environmental concerns. However this trip will focus on an often overlooked aspect of the city:  the health and wellness of people living in poverty. Almost one fifth of people in Asheville are living below the poverty line. This trip will explore issues such as food insecurity, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, and other factors that affect the health and wellness of the people of Asheville. Students will work with local community partners to understand the causes of these issues and learn about their efforts to improve quality of life for the people they serve. Their goal: to immerse themselves in the community and to bring their new perspectives to Springfield, MO.

Thank you in advance for your support! Donors can qualify for multiple incentives based on their total gift. For example, a $100 donor will receive all the incentives listed up to and including the $100 level.

*In addition, MSU alumni that make a qualifying gift of $25 or more receive an Active Alumni Member card.
