As the academic year begins here at Misericordia and your college reunion approaches, we would like to take a moment to share how the Misericordia Fund has impacted Emily Van Horn's education at Misericordia University. While many of her classmates may not understand the importance of alumni contributions, Emily as a scholarship recipient and work-study student in the Alumni Relations and Annual Giving office, recognizes how gifts each year from alumni like you are essential to her ability to attend Misericordia.
Emily first visited campus as a young child when her sister considered attending Misericordia. She wouldn't have thought a college campus would have left an impression on her, but it did. Almost a decade later, when she returned for her college visit, she immediately felt a physical calm and comfort – and knew Misericordia was where she wanted to be.
She is excited to be a member of the class of 2024 and make new friends, take on new challenges, and continue her education. She is a sophomore majoring in Occupational Therapy with a 3.8 GPA. Because of your generosity, she is confident she will have the financial support to attend Misericordia one more year.
Misericordia is creating future leaders because it has a solid commitment to students interested in studying outside their comfort zones – including Emily. She is thoroughly enjoying her experience at Misericordia because of the opportunities made possible through the annual gifts made by alumni - opportunities including leadership development, academic support, and service activities, to name a few, helped her realize her potential. She would not be at Misericordia University without the alumni support of the Misericordia Fund. Please consider a gift to Misericordia University as an investment in the future and success of Misericordia students like Emily - enabling them to reach for their dreams each year.
