The Auraria Campus Peace Garden project is a conceptual designed garden, that will inspire new relationships with in the community, while also encompassing our past history at Ninth Street Historic Park; which include connections to our past Indigenous and Hispanic communities. This project has three distinct goals. The first is to create a space that brings acknowledgment and awareness to the displaced Auraria communities. The second is to highlight and share cultural and ecological diversity by reconnecting the space to all intersectional qualities of humanity. Our last goal is to strengthen the connection between our campus and the Denver communities, bringing unity to all.
This project will be carried out as a collaborative venture with the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes, the Community College of Denver, the University of Colorado Denver, the Auraria Historical Advocacy Council (AHAC) and Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC).
