Epic Scholars
Every year, the Epic Scholars are overwhelmed by the incredible support received by the MSU Denver community. Over the last 3 years, the Epic Scholar Peer Leaders have been involved in Participatory Action Research (PAR) with Dr. Erin Boyce to provide better support for independent students on campus. The peer leaders have been essential team members involved in surveying, data analysis, focus groups, and yearly evaluation to make the Epic program better for Scholars over time. This research suggests that Epic Scholars have more connections, a deeper sense of belonging in the campus community, better access to resources, and higher academic success than independent students outside of the Epic cohort. We have an important story, data, and model on how to best help students succeed to share with those serving youth in child welfare that are interested in pursuing college degrees!

Epic Scholars is raising funds to cover travel, food, lodging, and registration fees for Epic Peer Leaders to present this amazing research that they have been conducting the past few years at the Title IV-E Conference in New Orleans, LA! Attending this conference will provide Epic Peer Leaders with valuable experience around public speaking, presenting research, networking with others with similar visions and passions, and the chance to experience the rich cultural diversity that New Orleans has to offer! Any gifts given in excess will be used by the Epic Scholars to provide support to our students for any hardships they may face.
